About

Hi there!

 

My name is Zach Cuaresma. I am a student/ teacher of yoga and wellness coach based out of Bellingham, WA. I am passionate about living a life that feels good and helping others do the same. To me, wellness has to do with three aspects of our life- mental health, physical health, and spiritual health. Until I started to work on all three parts of my life, I didn't know how good I could feel!

 

My first experience with yoga came back in 2010, when I was attempting to play college football. We had a yoga class once a week during training camp. At that point in my life I was pretty closed-minded and ultimately not very receptive to the practice. Fast forward to about 2014 : I gave yoga another shot. I was on this path of being more open-minded and trying new things, so revisiting yoga seemed right. It didn’t take long for me to recognize not only the physical, but the mental benefits of the practice as they crept into my day to day life. I found myself more open in every sense and something deep in my being started to shift.

 

Before long, Lauren (my fiancé), and I decided to deepen our practice and go through a 200 hour intensive yoga teacher training. In May 2015, we traveled to Costa Rica and spent a month in the jungle studying and practicing yoga. We earned our 200 hour certification through Hari-Om Yoga School and my teachers were/are Massimo Monti and Jun Lee.

Now, I continue my self-studies by attending workshops, reading yogic texts and articles, and delving into my own personal practice.


This practice is a very personal one. When I teach I like to make a point to remind everyone of that. Yoga is about meeting yourself where you are at in that moment. Proper alignment and breath is important for safety, but there is no need to force or jam our bodies into a specific shape if it doesn’t feel good. I teach a slow and mindful class to encourage students to listen to their bodies and respond accordingly with their practice. It is my goal to create a safe and judgement-free space with every practice to facilitate in the journey to self discovery.
